Wow! The end of 2020 was packed full of one good thing after another!

We finished the master renovation right before Thanksgiving & were able to move our closet out of our living room and our bedroom out of our playroom! What a relief!

Our little boy was born in December and we were able to bring him home 2 days later! We are still awaiting finalization of the adoption but are on track for the 6m mark!

OK, like what is up with us doing MAJOR renovations will awaiting a little bundle of joy?! First the kitchen with baby girl and master & mudroom with baby boy.

To be fair, we didn't know we would be bringing a bitty bundle home when we started either of the projects.

The adoption came together in 19 days and we had to put finishing out the master closet on hold, because well adoption attorneys are expensive, but well worth the cost!!

Our closet is HUGE, it used to be a 3rd bedroom. So we are talking about outfitting a 12x10 room, which bring a hefty price tag. We got quotes from a local place & California Closets. One was over 6k & one was over 10k. woof.

Check out some totally scroll worthy closets, here!

I decided I was going to figure out a way to DIY a semi-custom closet to make it fit the look I'm hoping to pull off! I tried multiple closet building websites. Ikea's Pax Planner was my favorite and so easy to use, but whomp whomp, it wasn't available for delivery and it wasn't entirely in stock at any of the surrounding Ikea's (I am talking about 10hr round trips!!) and I got tired of waiting.

I had visited the Home Depot site a hundred times but trying to search through the closet systems and figure out what would fit in the space was a nightmare.

I finally realized that ClosetEvolution (one of Home Depot's brands had their own SUPER user friendly closet planner! You can check out the planner here!

So a couple of things I like about the ClosetEvolution systems.

  • They mount on the wall rather than sit on the floor (our house is 120yrs old, with original floors-so nothing is level)

  • They are adjustable widthwise to give you a semi custom look

  • They are way more affordable than the other options

  • The planner updates the estimate as you play around so you can see which options work best for your taste & budget

  • I plan on dyi-ing a little to make them even more what I want than some of the more pricey options

  • They are shipping within a week!

I am most excite about the drawers & also finding the perfect baskets for the top! I can't wait to share an update with you!
