Just like Anne of Green Gables, ‘I am so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers!‘

Autumn is my favorite season & as soon as the weather starts to change I come back to life! This is a particularly exciting beginning to October because we are heading to the mountains. That would be exciting on its own but we are also picking up our custom mudroom cabinets, thanks to my FIL!

With the big renovation going in the back of the house we decide to just go ahead and knock it all out! We have a side screened in porch off of our kitchen that was basically just a dog room / extra fridge. I’ve been dreaming about turning this space into a mudroom and having a more functional purpose!

My in laws came into town a few weeks ago & my father & law totally made my vision for the space possible! He drew up the design, smushing together all my ideas into the perfect wall of storage.

The Color

Ok, so the paint color! After 3 trips to Lowe’s & 4 phone calls & a trip across town to an Ace. I thought I had found the perfect color. I selected the paint chip, Em asleep in the buggy, and asked the paint counter guy to please mix me an 8oz sample of the Magnolia Paint.

He comes back a few minutes later and says that he can’t mix an 8oz sample of that particular color, but he could make the gallon. Well. Here is the issue with that. I didn’t need a whole gallon, I needed a small sample to test the sample in a few different spaces. (you can order the sample online but for whatever reason this particular Ace couldn’t mix it)

He was able to color match it for me & I left with the sample! It was PERFECT, absolutely perfect! This is the second Magnolia color that I have used in our house & it always seems to be exactly what I thought it was going to be. This has not been my experience with other brands.

stay tuned for the pictures of the cabinet!
