When I first visited the ridge, this cabin was still in the framing stage— but I knew given the small footprint & placement off the entry the kitchen needed to be as functional as it was inviting. My goal was to create a space that felt charming and collected with a little bit of whimsy.

The Heart of the Studio

Because the cabin is compact, every inch had to work hard — visually and practically. The layout keeps the kitchen open to the main living space, allowing guests to cook, gather, and relax all in one seamless flow. The room is grounded with cabinetry in a soft, misty sage that feels both timeless and a touch unexpected against the honeyed wood tones of the floors and ceiling.

Layers of Texture and Warmth

The backsplash tile was chosen for its subtle sheen and curving geometric shape. Paired with open natural-wood shelves, it strikes the right balance between modern simplicity and rustic warmth. Every shelf tells a story: a collection of checked bowls, bright ceramics, and a potted plant that catches the morning light just right.

Brass hardware and a sleek faucet add a glimmer of refinement, but nothing feels precious. It’s a kitchen meant to be used- meant to be enjoyed.

The open shelving above the sink keeps essentials within reach, while a simple pink pendant and framed art add warmth and whimsy to the vertical space. Cabinets & baskets hide the bulky necessities.

Unexpected Details

One of my favorite corners is the petite coffee nook tucked beside the entry. With its checkerboard tile and woven textures, it feels playful yet purposeful — a perfect spot to start the day.
