At Henry Hawkins Catholic Goods our mission is to continue the work of the Holy Spirit to rekindle the longing to participate "intelligently and actively" in the use of sacramentals by the laity.
As Pope Paul IV stated in his Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, there is hardly any material thing, when used properly which cannot be used to praise God & work toward our sanctification. We are so exited to offer a variety of goods to serve as little reminders to direct your prayers, works, joys & sufferings with praise toward our Lord!
SACROSANCTUM CONCILIUM
“61. Thus, for well-disposed members of the faithful, the liturgy of the sacraments and sacramentals sanctifies almost every event in their lives; they are given access to the stream of divine grace which flows from the paschal mystery of the passion, death, the resurrection of Christ, the font from which all sacraments and sacramentals draw their power. There is hardly any proper use of material things which cannot thus be directed toward the sanctification of men and the praise of God.”

When you think of Sacramentals, holy water is usually the first thing to come to mind. Maybe, Blessed Salt... iykyk! But what I love about what Pope Paul IV is saying here is that Jesus' stream of divine grace isn't limited to the item, such as water or salt (thought since they have been exorcised and blessed it is slightly different), but Jesus isn't limited to these things! His grace can flow from anywhere or through anything, when used properly and intelligently and offer us limitless chances to invite Jesus into our humanness and let him do his sanctifying work in our lives, we must only have our hearts open to His.
When I got married, outside of the church, on a ridge top in 11 degree weather, it goes without saying that Hank and I weren't very interested in church. It wasn't a priority for me and I don't think it was on his radar at all by this point. I'm basically a cradle catholic, I wasn't baptized until 5 & Hank was a recovering Baptist. On my wedding day my mom gave us a crucifix, a really rather large one, that had some dirt from Bethlehem in little glass enclosures on it. It laid on a shelf in my closet for at least a year. I'd walk by it sometimes and feel guilty that I had put Jesus in the closet but the thing was so big and not my "style" and I didn't want Catholic things as decor.
So yep that's old me and you're probably wondering how I got to here.. Well, I like to think that crucifix being in the house had something to do with it. Through His divine grace, I started going back to Mass. Asked Hank to join me a couple of times and he decided to convert. I went to confession for the first time in 14years. We had our marriage con-validated during a weekday mass, with my parents as witnesses & our infant daughter looking on.
Since this time of reconversion I have slowly been adding more and more Catholic art into our home. Our oldest has developed such a sweet love for Mary and it warms my heart to see her bonding with mama in such a way! I want every ounce of our home to reflect the love, sacrifice & mercy of our Lord. I want my children to grow up in a home where opportunities for His divine grace are endless & there a little reminders everywhere that you are chosen, loved & His.
Through Henry Hawkins Catholic Goods I want to offer your family a way to bring endless opportunities into your home too, while also doing some good!
We are partnering with pro-life organization for 2022 & will be donating 23% of all of our profits!
